It all started when…

In the past 25 years, I have had to write “my bio” a number of times, usually in association with giving a presentation to a group. I learned two things from writing them: 1. I still hate doing it, 2. I describe myself as a lifelong learner, adventurer, and a guy who isn’t sure what he wants to be when he grows up.

Throughout my entire career as a firefighter/paramedic and pathology assistant/death investigator, I continued to expand my medical knowledge through formal education and work experience. I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Activity with a focus on Health and Wellness. I completed a two-year pre-med course of study. I obtained a graduate degree and was awarded a Master’s in Public Health (MPH).

In December 2022, after 25 years in public service, I retired from both careers. While I enjoy the freedom of not working at all hours of the day and night, I struggled with not being able to apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities I spent a quarter century collecting.

In January 2024, I had the opportunity to go on a medical mission trip to Guatemala. After traveling 2,000 miles, I met Camille. Being skeptical of massage therapy, I asked Camille some direct questions. Not surprising to those of you who know Camille, the answers were equally direct. On the last day of the trip, Camille generously shared her knowledge with me. and allowed me to work with her. Coupling my knowledge with her skills, we were able to improve disabling ailments for a number of patients, allowing them to work toward regaining their independence.

I came back to Wisconsin wanting to re-enter the medical field. After researching all options available to me, I realized that becoming a massage therapist best complemented my previously acquired skills and abilities and would allow me to positively affect the lives of others in a meaningful way. Today I am a licensed massage therapist.

During my free time, I enjoy traveling, sailing, and playing music. Currently, I am building a small 9 ft. sailboat. I also have a very energetic little poodle Bichon Frisé dog that I love very much.
